Darren Ferguson slammed for leaving Ashley Young son on bench.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson has explained why he did not fulfill the father-son dream of the Young in yesterday’s FA Cup third round defeat to Everton 0-2 because it was an important game and not a charity match.

Much of the talk in the build-up to this evening’s third-round tie between League One outfit Peterborough and five-time FA Cup winners Everton had centred around the potential father-son meeting at Goodison Park.

Toffees defender Ashley Young was brought on for 17 minutes, but his 18-year-old son Tyler was an unused substitute.

Of course, after the match, the English player used his Twitter account to tweet about his disappointment, saying it was “painful”.

However, Ferguson revealed that he did not แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ follow the fans because he valued and respected the FA Cup.

“It’s tough to leave Tyler on the bench but we have to do it for the best of the team,” Ferguson said.

“One of the Everton players also nudged me, pressed me to do it as requested.”

“But we didn’t do it for charity.”

Darren knows about the connections because he is the son of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, so he has always been in his father’s shadow.

It’s fair to say fans on X, formerly Twitter, were less than impressed by Ferguson’s substitutions, with many baffled by the manager’s failure to play along with the sentimental narrative.

‘Not bringing on Tyler Young to play against his dad (Ashley Young), is pretty poor from Darren Ferguson,’ @Footy_Tipster said.

‘Darren Ferguson needs sacking… imagine not playing Young against his dad for the last 15 mins of the game,’ wrote @Unitedfc484995.

‘Darren Ferguson not bringing on Ashley Young’s son, disgraceful behaviour,’ @DanWrexham tweeted.
